Sistine Chapel Baptism

Vatican TV

On the news today was the pope baptizing 32 infants. Although I am not a believer of infant baptism it was heart warming to see  pictures of the event. I saw beaming parents and a beautiful service.  Baptism is a Christian rite of admission and adoption, almost invariably with the use of water, into the Christian Church. It is a new beginning.

At the end of the article I read this “Some local clergy balk at baptizing infants whose parents didn’t wed in church, but Francis readily granted their request, the newspaper said”. This was really disheartening to read. A infant does not have any control over the choice of parents. It is great that Pope Francis was willing to step up and do what I feel Jesus would had done.
